Mother's Day

What a way to celebrate Mother's Day. Best view and fantastic staff. The food from the 'on Arrival' to desserts was fantastic.

Fantastic view lovely birds and just an amazing hidden spot ! The food is good there too , been there solo twice and with family as well as we do out passports in this area ! What a wonderful place !

A lovely outdoor dining experience. Everything was perfect from the scenery to the food, drinks, desert and service too. I would definitely return here.

The Blue Crane restaurant offers good food with an amazing catch - there is a large pond featuring plenty of birds for the nature- or bird-lover to relax and enjoy. While the food is good, don't get me wrong, the real joy is experiencing the natural calm sights as you enjoy your afternoon.

Lunch with the birds

This lovely restaurant is set in a bird sanctuary. It is quite an amazing experience to have a meal with all of the amazing bird swimming past and seeing them go about their day. The sanctuary and restaurant is conveniently located and easy to access.
The restaurant kindly managed to find a table for us even though they were fully booked. The staff was amazing from start to finish and the food was delicious!
The atmosphere was fantastic, even though the restaurant was very busy. would definitely recommend the Blue Crane Restaurant, but make sure that you have a reservation!!
Great breakfast

We visited for breakfast and we were well surprised by the beautiful and tranquil surroundings at the restaurant. We sat out in the deck overlooking the dam and birds and the atmosphere was great. Breakfast itself was very good (we almost ate everything before we remembered to take a pic) and service by our waitron Prince was professional and quick.
Although not a massive menu, there is more than enough breakfast options to choose from and the prices are very reasonable. We will soon return to experience a lunch or dinner as well.
Quality restaurant in attractive setting

We chose this restaurant to celebrate a family member's 85th birthday. On arrival the car park attendant, on seeing the car disabled sticker, directed us to a space by the main entrance. Inside the restaurant we had a table on the stoop overlooking the lake.
The waiters are smartly dressed and professional. They have a very good wine menu and the food menu is interesting. There is also a specials board from which one of us chose the fish. He declared it excellent. The steak was also very good and cooked just as requested.
Haven for foreign guests or nature loving family

We often bring foreign guests here, and family who are fond of nature. My parents love the menu options, buffet and walk to the bird viewing hide. The kids enjoy feeding the water birds and tortoise too.

We had our year-end function at Blue Crane and it was lovely! The staff was wonderful, helpful and accommodated us in every way. The food was fantastic and the setting even better.
Best Kept Secret in Pretoria

Imagine having an upmarket lunch or dinner with clients in the Kruger-Park at a private lodge, but it is 5 mins away and in the middle of Pretoria. It is something to experience as a hidden gem, and you will return. The oxtail and lamb pie are exquisite.

Visited the restaurant a few times over the past year after moving to Pretoria and have recommended it to all my friends and colleagues! The restaurant overlooks a waterfront within a nature reserve (essential tip: call to reserve a table on the waterfront as it is often quite full).
The food has never disappointed. I would definitely recommend the Sunday lunch buffet. Do come HUNGRY to get your values worth as it is a bit on the pricier side. The waitrons are top notch; owner/chef Nico always making sure the food is on time and delicious and manager always there with a warm smile and patient ability to deal with my picky seating arrangements. Will definitely be back soon!
Mothers day

Excellent service and food. See ya all again very soon. Took my mom there for mothers day breakfast. They organized a table for us even though they were fully booked.
Entertainment for families and/special occasions.
I was there on previous occasions and the service and food is on par every time. GOOD FOOD, GOOD TIMES!
Unique peaceful
environment in
centre of Pretoria

First time visit to a very good environment on a small lake adjacent to Roberts Bird Park. The service was excellent good however not overpowering and allowed us to enjoy three and a half hours with a very good friend without be intruded upon.
The food was light and excellent, no heavy food just right for the lunch we enjoyed. A good wine selection of very good wines well priced. The snails were full of flavour, the jalapeno poppers did their name justice. Mains flavourful Eisbein, fresh chicken salad with avocado, the kingklip was 250g and the vegetables fresh and al dente. Excellent value.

We've been many, many times and every time you think this is the ultimate. However, every time you go back, you are simply amazed at the service, location, ambiance and the offerings!! These youngsters certainly know what they are doing and how to do it!! Keep it up, Guys!!

A superb venue for breakfast lunch dinner. Have been visiting for years BUT the new owners have upgraded beautifully. Great antipasto and cheese platters as well as the rest of the menu. Unconditionally recommended for food service and ambiance. What a treat.
